WOOD FESTIVAL 2025 | OPEN WORKSHOPS AT TABU – Saturday, October 4th, 2025

Saturday, October 4th, 2025

WOOD FESTIVAL 2025 | OPEN WORKSHOPS AT TABU

On the occasion of this year’s Wood Festival, TABU opened its doors to the public with “Open Workshops at TABU”, an initiative dedicated to presenting wood as a noble raw material and to highlighting the value of Made in Italy.

The initiative was created in collaboration with, and under the patronage of, the City of Cantù, and aims to present the company’s work directly to visitors through guided tours of the production departments, where expertise, experience and research come together on a daily basis. An opportunity to observe closely the gestures, processes and knowledge that transform wood into outstanding surfaces and solutions.

The initiative involved citizens, architects and university students who took part in guided tours and training sessions, thus enjoying a new experience. Visitors were able to closely follow the various stages of processing, engaging with those who work daily with the raw material and gaining an understanding of the value of time, craftsmanship and precision that characterise artisanal know-how.

Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 – TABU AND SHERWIN WILLIAMS IN TRIESTE, WOOD, CREATIVITY AND COLOUR WITHOUT LIMITS

Wednesday, October 1st, 2025

Tabu and Sherwin Williams in Trieste, Wood, Creativity and Colour Without Limits

Today, the seminar for architects organised by TABU in collaboration with Sherwin-Williams took place.

The speaker, Francesca Losi, described and illustrated, through a multisensory journey, natural veneers, dyed natural veneers, and multilaminar veneers, together with the related production processes that make the creation of these materials possible.

The seminar explores the expressive potential of wood, bringing material, finishes and colour into dialogue as design tools for contemporary architecture and interior design.

In its meetings with students and architects, TABU has a clear objective: to tell and convey the true characteristic of wood, namely its versatility, which becomes a point of great strength once it is dyed.

2° Prize Professionals: LEAF 3D, Riccardo Tomasoni (BG)
For the refined narration of the TABU ecological identity obtained by creating on a panel a graphic / naturalistic theme based on the delicate texture of the vegetable veins of a leaf, turned into three-dimensional patterns thanks to the Groovy technology.

3° Prize Professionals: TEXTOUR CITIES - INTRECCI DI CITTA’, Maria Gelvi and Rosalba di Maio (NA)
For the virtuous exaltation of the inlay technology obtained through textures derived from refined procedures of graphic and chromatic abstraction starting from the planimetries of famous cities.

For the elegant and classical approach to continuous modular texturization obtained with the technique of inlay in different shades of natural wood species

The winners of the Students category

WAI - Beatrice Milanesi, Martina Grassi, Alice Carrera, Marco Petazzoni (Politecnico di Milano, Corso di Design del Prodotto)

For the allusive and elegant composition of concentric circles that recalls the natural growth rings of sawn trunks transformed into decorative maxi motif milled on a uniform wood species

HIVE WAVE - Andrea Mastroianni, Nicholas Berto, Niccolò Puglisi (Politecnico di Milano, Design del Prodotto Industriale)
